A trip to the Halo Rock Shelter with Dr Carolyn Boyd and the Shumla Foundation based at Comstock Texas. In the group were two grad students working with Shumla & a professor of linguistics from UT Austin. He was looking for evidence to determine if the people who once lived here were actually speaking with words during this period of time. It was a very interesting trek, a once in a lifetime opportunity for me!
Located about 20 miles out of Comstock to a remote ranch. Then another 5 miles across that to get to the side canyon off the Devils River, finally a 1/4 mile hike down to where they are located along the top of the cliffs.
Site is now closed to visitors.

The petroglyphs at one end of the shelter are along 100 -150 ft. of the back wall.
